Court Baroness - September 2011

Outside of the class I took, this was the first scroll blank that I created. The artwork was from a book in a 15th century style and painted on Bristol vellum with watercolors. I was drawn to the picture because of the peacock. It was later presented to Her Excellency Julianna de Pardieu, calligraphy by Astridr Ketilsdottir.

Scroll blank.

We bestow upon her the right to bear arms within the Society and all rights and responsibilities conveyed by her elevation to this rank. Done by our hands this 25th day of June, Anno Societatis 46 in our Marche of the Marshes

Order of the Willow - June 2011

The Order of the Willow is an award given by the crown to those who have shown proficiency in the arts. The recipients are known by the badge blazoned: Purpure, a willow tree eradicated Or. This award is equal to the awards: Order of the Silver Oak. The scroll was created on Bristol vellum and is 11 by 17 inches. The calligraphy was done by Astridr Ketilsdottir. This was my first attempt at embossing using 14 karat gold leaf. The text reads as follows:
Pleased are we to recognize those who excel in the arts and especially those that do the good service of teaching to enrich our Kingdom. Therefore we Runa, Royal Patroness of the Arts and Arch, our King having heard much good of Ginevra Boscoli especially for her love and devotion to teaching dance do recognize her as a Companion of the Order of the Willow. Given by our hands this 11th day of June AS 46 in our Shire of Falcon's Quarry.
